His lack of concern, knowledge, or poor communication skills just cost our family $7000 in tax penalties. For this he charged $8000 for filing a few papers. Rarely available, hard to reach, seemed to pressure her into closing the estate before CRA finalized deceased last return. Now it's panic as the interest and penalties get added daily. He either knew the estate would owe a pile and didn't confirm the potential impact or didn't know, which is worse for someone charging this much.
My advice? Find a professional that will give you good advice even if it's not his "area".
